The convocation ceremonies of every university and college are often organised grandly. In a similar development, the 6th convocation ceremony of Jananayak Chandrashekhar University located in the city of Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, takes place today, September 24. The ceremony is set to be presided over by Chancellor and Governor of Uttar Pradesh Anandiben Patel. In an interview with Local 18, Vice Chancellor Prof. Sanjeet Kumar Gupta mentioned that this ceremony will hold a special significance as compared to the previous ones held at the university.
It is the first convocation of Jananayak Chandrashekhar University, where the first two PhD holders will receive their degrees. An official mentioned this year, the number of female students was much higher than male. Agricultural scientist and Padma Shri awardee Dr Ram Chet Chaudhary will also be present at the event as the chief guest. Minister of Science, Yogendra Upadhyaya and Minister of State in the Ministry of Higher Education Rajani Tiwari will also be present.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Sanjeet Kumar Gupta told Local 18 that students securing the highest marks in their respective years and streams will be awarded gold medals. Out of all the toppers, one student who received the highest marks across all streams will receive the Chancellor’s Award. Mentioning the name of the winner of this prestigious award he said, “With great joy, I want to let you know Ayushi Kumari Singh, an MSc student in Zoology, has been selected for the prestigious Chancellor’s Award.”
While speaking on the number of awards, Prof. Sanjeet Kumar Gupta mentioned that 42 students will receive gold medals at the ceremony. Among the medal winners, 34 are female students and eight are male students. Adding to it, around 23,342 students will be handed over their degrees, including 19,448 undergraduate and 3,894 postgraduate students. Among these, 9,452 are male while 13,890 are female students.
