The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has published the provisional results for the Karnataka State Eligibility Test (KSET) 2023. It was the first time KEA organised KSET for Assistant Professorship eligibility in the state. The test, conducted on January 13, 2024, in offline mode across seven centres in Karnataka, covered 41 subjects, with a total of 117,303 candidates registering for the exam. Out of these, as many as 95,201 students appeared for both papers, and 6,675 candidates have qualified across all categories and subjects.
Initially, the provisional answer keys were rolled out on the KEA website, allowing students to raise objections. These objections were reviewed by experts, and the KEA KSET 2023 results were processed based on the finalised answer keys.
A total of 6,675 candidates have qualified across all categories and subjects. Out of the total candidates, 3,398 males qualified, resulting in an 8.27 per cent qualification rate, while 3,180 females qualified, yielding a 5.90 per cent qualification rate. In addition to that, transgender candidates had a notable qualification rate of 43.89 per cent.
KEA KSET 2023 Results: Category-wise Performance
Unreserved: A total of 15,217 students registered, out of which 11,687 appeared, and 797 qualified, for a 6.82 per cent qualification rate.
Scheduled Caste (SC): As many as 29,152 candidates registered and 23,646 appeared for the exam. Among them, 1,432 qualified, resulting in a 6.06 per cent.
Scheduled Tribe (ST): 10,460 registered for the exam, and around 8,470 appeared. Approximately 628 qualified, making up 7.41 per cent of the total.
Cat-I: 8,173 registered, while 6,526 appeared for the KSET exam, and 484 qualified, with a 7.42 per cent qualification rate.
Cat-2A: 16,398 appeared for the examination, and 1,486 qualified at a 9.06 per cent rate.
Cat-2B: Out of the 6,252 students who registered for the exam, 4,889 appeared, and 420 qualified, at 8.59 per cent.
Cat-3A: 9,736 registered, 8,461 appeared, and 558 students qualified, with a 6.59 per cent.
Cat-3B: 15,124 students appeared for the exam, and 870 qualified, yielding a 5.75 per cent rate.
Persons with Disabilities (PWD): 2,051 registered and 1,595 sat for the exam. Out of which, 350 qualified, resulting in a significant 21.94 percent qualification rate.
The KEA KSET 2023 selection process involves the determination of total slots meaning the number of individuals eligible for Assistant Professorships was fixed at 6 per cent. Upon clearing the first step, a subject-wise and category-wise merit list was created using the aggregate marks from both papers. Candidates belonging to the unreserved category need to secure at least 40 per cent aggregate marks to be considered eligible for Assistant Professorship, while 35 per cent are reserved categories, including SC, ST, PWD, Cat-I, IIA, IIB, IIIA, IIIB, and transgender candidates from non-creamy layers.
