The Uttar Bharatiya Vikas Sena (UBVS), a political party registered with the Election Commission of India, has extended an invitation to notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi to run for a seat in the Maharashtra Assembly elections. The party’s national president, Sunil Shukla, reached out to Lawrence Bishnoi with a formal letter, expressing the party’s interest in his candidacy.
In a statement that has raised eyebrows, Shukla remarked, “We see Shaheed Bhagat Singh in you,” drawing an analogy between Lawrence Bishnoi and the revered freedom fighter. He further elaborated on the party’s mission, advocating for the rights of North Indian communities residing in Maharashtra – specifically those from Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Uttarakhand – who, according to Shukla, have been deprived of reservation benefits due to their ancestral origins.
Shukla confirmed that the UBVS has already identified four candidates for the upcoming elections and is now awaiting Lawrence Bishnoi’s response. If he accepts the offer, the party plans to quickly release its first list of candidates.
As the investigation into Baba Siddique’s murder unfolds, questions are being raised about the implications of Lawrence Bishnoi’s potential political ascent.
