Do you know that two courses in our country are considered equal to MBBS? For these, you do not even need to qualify for the NEET exam. These two courses are Bachelor of Prosthetics Orthotics (BPO) and Master in Prosthetics and Orthotics (MPO). Both of these courses will make your path easier to get a job in the country and abroad.
Dr Ranjit Kumar said that both of these courses are being conducted at Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University. Students in the university study the design, manufacturing and fitting of prosthetic limbs and orthopaedic devices. It includes biomechanics, materials, patient care and practical skills. This entire course is conducted by the Rehabilitation Council of India.
He said that if anyone wants to apply for this, then he can apply till June 30 in the undergraduate (UG) and till July 30 in the postgraduate (PG) course. One has to apply online by visiting the university website at https://dsmru.up.nic.in. Anyone who does this course gets a package of Rs 5 to 8 lakh rupees.
There are 25 seats available for this course in UG and 10 seats available for the PG. For the undergraduate, one has to pay Rs 36,605 in the first year, while in the second year, one has to pay Rs 34,500. In the postgraduate, one has to pay Rs 49,000 in the first year, while Rs 43,000 in the second year. The UG course is four and a half years, including a 6-month internship while the PG course is two years. The candidates who want to apply for the mentioned course should have passed class 12th from a recognised board with physics, chemistry and biology.
These courses provide students with a variety of professional options. The career options after the course are available in different places, like healthcare facilities, prosthetic clinics, rehabilitation centres, private practices, or instructors and lecturers.
