The Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) is offering job opportunities to eligible candidates for the posts of Veterinary Assistant Surgeons (VAS) and Additional Veterinary Assistant Surgeons (AVAS) under Advt. No. 24 of 2023-24. Interested candidates who fulfil the eligibility criteria can apply for the aforementioned posts through the official website of the Odisha Public Service Commission at opsc.gov.in.
Starting from January 25 onwards, candidates can submit their applications for the posts online. However, the last date for the submission of the application form is February 26, 2024. Under this recruitment drive, OPSC aims to fill up a total of 539 vacancies in the organisation.
OPSC Recruitment 2024: Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit: Candidates seeking the position must be between the ages of 21 and 38 as of January 1, 2023.
Educational Qualification: Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc and A.H) or its equivalent degree from any recognised Institution/ University/ College in India or abroad.
Furthermore, he/she must also possess the required conversion certificates recognised by the Veterinary Council of India (VCI) in case of candidates having degrees from Universities of Foreign Countries. The candidates must also have a valid registration certificate under the Odisha Veterinary Practitioners Act, 1970 (Section 21).
OPSC Recruitment 2024: Certificates/Documents To Be Attached
Candidates who qualify for the written examination will be required to carry the hard copy of the online application form along with copies of the following certificates/documents and originals of the same for their eligibility verification.
(i) HSC or equivalent certificate in support of age declaration issued by the concerned Board/Council.
(ii) BVSc Degree Certificate and Marksheet issued by the recognised University.
(iii) Four recent passport-size photographs (It should be the same which was those uploaded with the online application form.)
(iv) Registration Certificate under the Odisha Veterinary Practitioners Act, 1970.
(v) Government based ID proof.
(vi) Caste Certificate by birth in support of claim as S.E.B.C/ SC/ ST, if applicable
(vii) Required Odia Test Pass Certificate.
(viii) Disability Certificate issued by the concerned Medical Board, if applicable
(ix) Ex-Servicemen claiming reservations are required to submit a Release Certificate issued as per Orissa Ex-Servicemen Rules, 1985.
(x) Sports Identity Card issued by the Director of Sports, Odisha, if applicable.
(xi) No Objection Certificate issued by the Competent Authority.
OPSC Recruitment 2024: Selection Process
The selection of the candidates for recruitment to the posts of Veterinary Assistant Surgeons and Additional Veterinary Assistant Surgeons shall be made based on a written examination held at Cuttack/Bhubaneswar. The examination will be held for two hours and thirty minutes. The total marks for the written examination shall be 800. There shall be two papers, i.e., paper I (Veterinary Science) and paper II (Animal Science), each paper consists of 200 questions and carries 400 marks. Candidates should note that the questions shall be in Multiple choice question (Objective-type) pattern.
