Exclusive | Vikrant Massey 'Overwhelmed' With Sheetal Thakur's Pregnancy, Says 'I Just Hope…'
Vikrant Massey reveals his first reaction when he came to know that wife Sheetal Thakur is pregnant. He also speaks about his upcoming film 12th Fail.

Four years after they began dating, actors Vikrant Massey and Sheetal Thakur got engaged in November 2019. Three years later, they registered their marriage and tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in their Mumbai home. And last month, the couple took to social media to announce that they’re all set to embrace parenthood and that their little bundle of joy is expected to arrive in 2024.

And now, in an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, Vikrant reveals that he’s rather thrilled to become a father. “I feel a mix of every emotion. I’m both nervous and excited and I fall short of words every time I’m asked about it. I just hope everything pans out nicely. I was overwhelmed when I came to know that Sheetal is pregnant,” says Vikrant, who reportedly met his wife on the sets of the web show, Broken But Beautiful.

On the work front, Vikrant is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film, 12th Fail, directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. It draws inspiration from real-life tales of aspirants preparing for the formidable UPSC exam. It is filmed in real-life locations with actual students, offering a gritty portrayal of UPSC candidates, their resolve, moral values and the enduring bonds they forge.

Speaking to us, Vikrant reveals that he harboured a secret desire to sit for the exams at one point in time. “I knew that 32 is the age limit for UPSC. I’m talking about 2008-2009. I thought of even attempting it but then I realised that it would take me a year at least to prepare for the examination, which would mean that I would have had to take a break from acting,” he says.

The Love Hostel and Haseen Dillruba actor further adds, “I never had the courage to actually start preparing for UPSC. I still think to myself about how my life would be if I had cleared the exams. This thought usually comes to me when I sit and watch Kaun Banega Crorepati and have the correct answers to all the questions asked. That’s when I feel like I’m quite intelligent (laughs).”

Looking back at his student days and why his parents never expected him to appear for UPSC exams unlike a lot of Indian families, Vikrant recalls, “A lot of it depends on the environment you’ve at home. I never had anyone with a government job in my family. I never had any pressure from my parents to sit for UPSC exam. They were very lenient.”

He continues, “Much like any other middle-class family, they wanted to me to at least have a graduation degree, so that I can have a back-up in case my acting career doesn’t take off. We didn’t have much information about UPSC. There are pockets in Mumbai where you see a craze for UPSC. But since it’s such a dynamic cosmopolitan city, a lot of people focus on private jobs.”

12th Fail is scheduled for a release on October 27.
