Actress Neha Rana feels television should stop repeating the same Saas Bahu drama. In an exclusive interview with News18 Showsha, Neha argued that the makers are still feeding the same content to the audience which even she grew up watching. She cited the example of her popular show Junooniyat and urged the makers of other shows to try something new.
“Sometimes I also feel that there is a need to change a bit because whatever has been fed to us since our childhood, we are still doing the same. Our audience is also stuck at the same content. We need to start creating something which is out of the box,” Neha told us.
“I have never seen a musical show. That is the specialty of our show and that’s why people are getting connected to it. I think we should not keep repeating the same Saas Bahu drama. (In Junooniyat) we have tried the college drama also but some people did not connect to it and so we are back to the family drama. We are not missing out on music in this love story,” the actress added.
Neha agreed that in attaining the TRP mark, the quality of the content is lost but explained that at the end of the day, it is all ‘business’ and therefore, the makers also compelled to feed what people prefer to watch. “No matter how much we try to create new content, if it is not working, they (makers) have to go back to the same content which was working for them. They are also here to grow their business. As an actor, I think we need to keep doing things to satisfy our soul and that’s why I am doing this show (Junooniyat) because I am connected to the character and to the music,” she said.
She further explained that as an actor, there’s not much she can do about as far as the content is concerned but added that she can always decide to speak up to put forth her point. “It is not in my hands whatever they want to show. Of course, I can question and then they will take a decision on it,” the 24-year-old actress shared.
Neha Rana is currently seen in Junooniyat where she plays the role of Ilahi. The show also stars Ankit Gupta and Gautam Singh Vig in the lead.
