New Delhi: Defending champions AC Milan are out of the Champions League tournament. The Italian club were knocked out by Arsenal who fired in two late goals to book their place in the quarter-finals after their first leg game ended goalless.
Milan hosted the English Premier League leaders and dominated the opening stages.
Arsenal soon found their range but neither side were able to score in the first half.
It was in the 84th minute that Arsenal grabbed the lead when Cesc Fabregas finally broke the deadlock with a stunning strike. And a simple tap in from Emmanuel Adebayor in injury time sealed a 2-o win for Arsenal.
Meawwhile, Barcelona also eased into the quarter-finals of the Champions league when they beat Celtic at home by a lone goal.
The Spanish side got off to a perfect start with Xavi Hernandez putting the Catalans ahead in the third minute. The Scottish defence struggled to contain Barca throught the match.
However, Barca recieved a jolt when Lionel Messi had to leave the field with a hamstring injury just before half time.
Though Barca had their chances in the second half but the Celtic goalkeeper denied them with some great saves.
In the end Barcelona won 4-2 on aggregate. They had beaten Celtic 3-2 in the first leg.
In the other matches of the Champions League, Manchester United beat Lyon 1-0. Christiano Ronaldo scored his 30th goal of the season to take his side in the quarter-finals. Sevilla were not lucky though as Fenerbahce beat them 3-2 on penalty kicks after they were tied 5-all on aggregate.
