Young Turkish midfielder Emirhan Delibas is understood to have had his contract terminated hours after his profile was spotted on a dating app. Having graduated from the club’s academy, the 21-year-old midfield talent was contracted to Turkish football club Besiktas.
However, things took a turn for the worse after a dating profile featuring his pictures went viral on social media. Moments after this incident, the Turkish Giants released a statement on their official Instagram account stating that Delibas’ contract with the club was mutually terminated.
The post read, “A briefing from our club, We are parting ways by mutual agreement with professional footballer Emirhan Delibas. We wish success to Emirhan Delibas in his next career, we present it to the public.”

While there has been no official reason stated behind the sudden move, Emirhan Delibas’ termination is being connected to the player’s profile on a dating application. As per several media outlets, the profile featured a photograph of Delibas wearing the Besiktas training jersey. Moreover, the profile also had some wrong information where the player’s age was quoted to be 24. The description of the profile talked about his profession as a footballer who was looking for ‘something casual’. The profile also provided Delibas’ official Instagram handle.
Emirhan Delibas recently broke his silence on the situation in an interview with Transfermarkt. He has rubbished all the rumours surrounding him and has said, “I was disturbed by the disrespect shown towards me over the years and perception that my private life was being criticized. For this reason, I thought it would be more accurate to terminate my contract with the club by mutual consent after meeting with them.”
Emirhan Delibas then further spoke on the situation on why he did not want his club to go through more damage. “In truth, I didn’t want my club to suffer any more damage because of me. I wish I could have provided financial gain to the club when leaving with my transfer fee and been remembered for my football”, the 21-year-old explained.

Emirhan Delibas had spent the previous season on loan at the TFF First League side Goztepe. His debut for Besiktas this season came in a UEFA Conference League against Switzerland side FC Lugano. His first appearance in the Super Lig appeared in a 1-3 loss against Kasimpasa in the previous month.
