Blackburn: Blackburn Rovers' struggling manager Steve Kean has branded their trip of India as beneficiary for his side to recover from their recent slump in the Premier League.
The international break will see the team from Ewood Park, currently occupying the 19th position in the EPL standings, face Pune FC in owners Venky's home city of Pune on Friday.
"Obviously, we didn't think we would be in this position when we rearranged it," Kean exclaimed.
He added, "But it is still an opportunity to train in a different environment. To be really close with the lads could be a good thing because at times like these you want to stick together."
Despite rumours of him facing the axe, Kean insisted that he has the full backing of the management, and that he had nothing to do with the sacking of assistant manager John Jenson.
"The owners are very strong. I spoke with one of the owners (Anuradha Desai) first thing [on Saturday] and she said there were going to be demonstrations and that I should not let it bother me and I won't."
"The owners are in it for the long term and they have backed me to the hilt," said the 44-year-old.
Since taking over from Sam Allardyce 10 months ago, the Scot has managed only one high-profile win over Arsenal in a seven-goal thriller recently, but thanks to two own-goals, besides picking a meagre point against Fulham this season.
With Steve Kean reportedly on the verge of dismissal, coupled with the exit of his number two John Jenson last Wednesday, it would be interesting if Blackburn travel without a manager.
