London: Charlie Adam is on the verge of finalising his move to Liverpool after successfully passing a medical with the club.
Widespread reports have confirmed Adam's health and fitness tests are now complete, meaning only the formalities have to be completed before his move is made official.
The Reds confirmed on Wednesday that they had agreed a deal with Blackpool for their captain, with reports suggesting the fee involved is around 9 million pounds.
Liverpool had tried to land Adam in the January transfer window, but missed out along with Tottenham as the Seasiders held firm as they wanted to give themselves the best possible chance of securing Premier League survival.
The end-of-season exit of the Scotland midfielder was an inevitability from that moment onwards and Kenny Dalglish’s side have since moved back to the front of the queue.
The 25-year-old joined Blackpool from Rangers for just 500,000 pounds in 2009 and made a name for himself as he led his side to a surprise promotion.
He excelled the following season in the Premier League, taking his game to another level and scoring 13 goals in all competitions as Ian Holloway's men came within one match of top-flight safety.
Adam will become the latest in a long line of midfielders now at Anfield, with the ranks recently bolstered by the arrival of Jordan Henderson from Sunderland in a deal worth just under 20 million pounds.
Dalglish still has other additions he wants to secure before the start of the season, with Aston Villa winger Stewart Downing top of the list and negotiations still ongoing with the Birmingham club.
Roma's Doni is another target being linked with a move to Liverpool as the club look to increase the competition on No.1 goalkeeper Pepe Reina.
