Chelsea’s summer transfer spree has already triggered a buzz. The Blues recently are on the hunt to complete acquisition of Joao Felix and with this, their number of summer signings will reach up to 10.
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher recently reacted to Chelsea’s activities in the transfer market and urged the club to “stop buying players.” The ex-English defender even went on to request the players to “stop signing for Chelsea.”
The London giants have already spent around £185 million this summer and the club is left with a squad of more than 40 senior players.
A post shared by Sky Sports Premier League on X (formerly Twitter) has now revealed that “Chelsea currently have 191 years worth of contracted players on their books.”

The post went on to claim that Tottenham are nearest in this respect as their combined total is 97 years remaining. Brighton come next with 96 years left on this list of clubs. Defending Premier League champions Manchester City are left with 71 years of contracted footballers on their books. Everton are placed at the bottom of the table with 47 years remaining.
While talking about Chelsea’s summer transfer plans, Jamie Carragher recently said on Sky Sports, “The only reason you might is if your agent says ‘we’re getting a seven-year deal on big money’ – it’s guaranteed money. You know what I’d say – back yourself as a player, sign a four-year deal at a proper club, back yourself to do well. Then when you’re up for renewal your money goes up anyway.”
“I don’t understand why players are signing seven-year deals. There isn’t anything there. It is not a young and exciting team. They’ve just signed Joao Felix – tell me where he’s going to play,” Jamie Carragher added.
Jamie Carragher even pointed out that Chelsea have got seven or eight players who are vying for three positions. He asked, “What Chelsea have got now, where’s Felix going to get changed at the training ground. If you’ve got 40 players – how are you in one dressing room? How are you putting a training session on?”
Chelsea kicked off their Premier League journey with a defeat to reigning champions Manchester City by two goals to nil. In their next match, the Enzo Marcesca-coached side will be up feature in a Europa Conference League play-off first-leg tie against Servette.
English winger Raheem Sterling has been left out of Chelsea’s squad for their Europa Conference League play-off tie. This is the second consecutive game where Sterling has not been included in the matchday squad. The 29-year-old was also not part of Chelsea’s Premier League opener against Manchester City.
