Chennai: Atletico de Kolkata's (ATK) marquee player Helder Postiga was stretchered off and taken to the hospital after the striker's brace helped the defending champions get off to a solid start in the second season of Indian Super League (ISL) with a 3-2 win over the hosts Chennaiyin FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium here on Saturday.
Postiga's Kolkata career got off to a great start as he scored two goals in the season-opener but got injured straight away after he scored his second goal and had be carried off on a stretcher.
When asked about the injury in the post-match conference, ATK coach Antonio Habbas said: "He has been taken to the hospital and the extent of injury is still not known. I can't talk about it at the moment."
Habbas also said that he was quite satisfied with his side's start to the season but was not happy with the pitch here.
"I am very happy with the performance. We have two away goals but three points matter. We played as a team and with Chennai a very good team - this results mean a lot and that too away from home," he said.
Habbas, though, criticised quality of the pitch. "It was a difficult game. The pitch was horrible and the grass was not good as well, so it is good that we have three points."
