Chennai: Atletcio de Kolkata (ATK) fans can breathe a sigh of relief as the injury their marquee player Helder Postoga suffered in the opening game of the Indian Super League (ISL) 2015 here on Saturday is not that serious as it looked when he was stretchered off and rushed straight to the hospital from the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
Postiga scored in the 13th and the 70th minute of the season-opening match that defending champions ATK won 3-2 against hosts Chennaiyin FC.
"It is not as serious as it first looked like. It seems more of a strain and nothing else. I can't say more at the moment but he shall be fit soon and hopefully we will see him on the pitch as soon as possible," a source told IBNLive.
The Portuguese striker's ISL career got off to a great start but just when he scored his second goal of the match, he got injured sending a scare to the ATK dugout.
After the match Kolkata coach Antonio Habbas had said that he wasn't sure about the extent of the injury.
"He has been taken to the hospital and the extent of injury is still not known. I can't talk about injury at the moment," Hanbas had said in the post-match conference.
