Liverpool: Liverpool owner John W Henry has revealed the club's primary target is to qualify for the Champions League this season.
Henry's Fenway Sports Group have bankrolled well over 40 million pounds worth of signings this summer in addition to the 57 million pounds which brought strikers Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez to Anfield in January, leading many in the media to tip them for a tilt at the title this season.
The American was keen to play down such lofty expectations but admitted he expects to be rewarded for his investment with a return to the top four and Champions League football.
Speaking to Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet as his club prepares for a friendly with Valerenga, Henry said: "It's too early for us to start talking about winning the league.
"In my opinion Manchester United are the ones to beat. They have a good squad and look really good.
"Our main goal is to qualify for the Champions League; if we don't, it would be a major disappointment."
