Such is the urgency to sign the Villa number 7 that United want to finalise the swoop in the next 48 hours.

New Delhi: Manchester United will begin their summer spending spree by signing Aston Villa forward Ashley Young for a supposed 20 million Pound fee according to reports from Daily Mail.

Young, who was brought on board by Villa from Watford in 2007 has impressed with his performances, scoring 7 goals and providing as many as 11 assists in the 2010-11 season.

The winger had already caught the eye of Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson who had supposedly made a bid for him in the January transfer window but was unable to get his man.

But after the 25-year old reiterated his desire to play Champions League football and with improved showings for England as well, United are frontrunners to seal the move for Young.

Such is the urgency to sign the Villa number 7 that United want to finalise the swoop in the next 48 hours.

The Villan has agree to sgin a 4-year deal. Young has been coveted by Liverpool and Manchester City but has set his heart on joining the ranks at Old Trafford, where Ferguson sees him as successor on the wing to Ryan Giggs. His arrival could lead to the departure of Nani, who is wanted by Serie A side Juventus.
