During the summit, when asked about her status as an ‘outsider’ in Hollywood and the difficulties she faced because of it, Charlize shared her journey. She said that she shifted her focus to acting after a knee injury halted her dance aspirations. Reflecting on her early days in Hollywood as a newcomer, Charlize said, “I had a weird naive confidence”. She acknowledged her lack of formal skills but said that she was determined. Charlize cited her South African accent as a big obstacle and admitted her limited knowledge of acting at the time.

Charlize discussed her two adopted daughters and connected with Karan, who is also a single parent to twins born through surrogacy. Karan shared an endearing moment, revealing that his daughter Roohi often asks him about her birth. To this, he lovingly responds that she was born from ‘Dadda’s heart.’ Charlize said that she does the same with her daughter, feeling a special bond with Karan because of their similar experiences as single parents. She also called Karan her favourite person for their shared connection.
