Friends Co-star Reveals Why Matthew Perry Dropped Chandler Cheating On Monica Twist in the Storyline

Actor Matthew Perry reportedly influenced a scandalous episode of the TV show Friends by voicing his concerns to the writers, as stated in a TMZ report.
Actress Lisa Cash, who also had a role in the series, revealed that originally, Perry’s character, Chandler Bing, was intended to have an affair, cheating on Courteney Cox’s character, Monica Geller. However, this entire concept was eventually dropped. Lisa appeared in the 1999 episode from the fifth season, titled The One in Vegas: Part 1.
As per the report, the initial scenario involved Monica and Chandler engaging in a heated argument. In the storyline, Lisa’s character was meant to deliver room service to Chandler’s Las Vegas hotel room, where they would bond after his disagreement with Monica. The scriptwriters had intended for Chandler to then become involved with Lisa’s character, thus betraying Monica.
Even though Perry practised the scene, he was concerned that the storyline would disappoint the fans. Consequently, he persuaded the show’s writers to drop the concept. Once the script was discarded, Lisa took on the role of a flight attendant in Ross and Rachel’s scene in the episode.
Matthew Perry’s funeral took place on Friday, November 3, in Los Angeles, and his ‘Friends’ Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer attended it. Matthew, best known to play the role of Chandler in Friends, died on October 28. The 54-year-old actor was found dead in his hot tub. His sudden death has left everyone in shock.
Earlier this week, the cast of Friends issued a statement to People, reacting to Matthew’s death. Their statement read: “We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family,” “There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss. In time we will say more, as and when we are able. For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world.”
