Jeremy Renner Returns To Work A Year After Devastating Accident: 'It Is Happening'
Jeremy Renner took to Instagram Stories and reposted co-star Emma Laird's image from the set of Mayor of Kingstown.

Jeremy Renner is back in action. He has resumed work a year after a harrowing incident that almost cost him his life. The incident, which occurred last New Year, resulted in about 30 broken bones and emergency surgery. Recently, just ahead of the accident’s anniversary, Renner shared a post on Instagram Stories featuring co-star Emma Laird on the set of Mayor of Kingstown. Responding to Emma’s excitement about reuniting, Renner affirmed, “It’s happening.” The forthcoming show marks Renner’s comeback to onscreen acting following the challenging incident.

The show created by Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon, features Renner as Mike McLusky, the city’s Mayor, functioning as a mediator between criminals and law enforcement. Months after the accident, the Avengers star was seen walking with a cane at the red carpet event for his Disney Plus series, Rennervations, in April. Despite using the cane for support, Renner even kindly paused to interact with fans.

Earlier, giving an update about Jeremy Renner’s health, Mayor of Kingstown co-creator and star Hugh Dillon told Comic Book, “It was the biggest relief it was such a rollercoaster because when I got the news I wanted to fly out and find him and see him. Then he sent me a video the next day, the biggest relief in my life, because it was so funny and profane and I was just like, okay, he’s gonna come back. He’s just so funny. He’s like a brother to me. It’s like, you know, we’ve worked on this show for two years. This is my show I created with Taylor Sheridan and he’s [Renner] just unstoppable.”

Earlier this year, Jeremy Renner recounted the accident to Variety, revealing that he and his 27-year-old nephew, Alex, were trying to tow a Ford Raptor out of the snow using Renner’s snow plow. As Alex opened the connecting chain between the vehicles after successfully freeing the Raptor, Renner’s plow started sliding down. Concerned for his nephew’s safety, Renner extended one foot out of the plow to check on Alex, forgetting to engage the parking brake. Unfortunately, this caused Renner to lose his balance and fall out of the vehicle. Renner feared the plow might roll back and crush Alex, prompting him to try jumping back in to stop it. Tragically, this resulted in Renner being run over by the vehicle.
