Nothing, Just Robert Downey Jr In A 'Happy' Photo With His Oscars
After his big win at the Oscars 2024, Robert Downey Jr. shared a "happy" photo on his Instagram, proudly displaying his new trophy.

The 96th Academy Awards began with a slightly uneasy moment for Robert Downey Jr., as he appeared displeased during host Jimmy Kimmel’s opening monologue, which included some jests aimed at past Iron Man actors. However, the evening swiftly turned into a joyous occasion for the Hollywood icon. Despite previous Oscar nominations in 1993 for his portrayal of Charlie Chaplin in Chaplin and in 2009 for Tropic Thunder, Robert Downey Jr. finally clinched his first win in the Best Supporting Actor category for his role as Admiral Lewis Strauss in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. Alongside Robert’s triumph, Christopher Nolan’s cinematic masterpiece also secured awards in six other categories.

To celebrate the big moment, Robert Downey Jr. recently shared a jubilant photo on his Instagram account, proudly displaying his newly acquired Academy Award trophy.

Breaking away from his typical polished appearance, the star was clad in a gold robe, clutching his Academy Award trophy in one hand and a cup of coffee in the other. Accompanying the picture, Robert penned the caption, “Oh happy day.” Beyond celebrating his latest addition to the awards collection, the actor cleverly capitalized on the moment to promote his brand, Happy Products. This coffee company, which Robert co-founded earlier in the year with Craig Dubitsky, was strategically highlighted in his post.

At the Oscars 2024, Robert Downey Jr received the award from the previous year’s Best Supporting Actor winner, Ke Huy Quan. During his acceptance speech, he said, “I’d like to thank my terrible childhood and the academy, in that order. I’d like to thank my veterinarian, I meant wife, Susan Downey. She found me a snarling rescue pet and you loved me back to life. That’s why I’m here. Thank you. Here’s my little secret. I needed this job more than it needed me. Chris knew it, Emma made sure that she surrounded me with one of the great casts and crews of all time, Emily, Cillian, it was fantastic. And I stand here before you a better man because of it.”

Apart from his wife, Susan and Oppenheimer director Christopher Nolan, the actor also gave credit to his stylist and also his entertainment lawyer Tom Hanson. “For 40 years, the half of which he spent trying to get me insured and bailing me out, thanks, bro,” he added.

In addition to Robert Downey Jr.’s win, Cillian Murphy also won an award in the Best Actor category. The night shone brightly for the team behind Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, with Nolan himself clinching the Best Director award. The film reached the pinnacle by winning the prestigious Best Picture accolade. Beyond these major victories, the movie garnered recognition in other crucial categories, including cinematography, original music, and screenplay. The multiple wins across diverse aspects showcase the depth and excellence of Oppenheimer, making it a standout success at the 96th Academy Awards.

In addition to Robert Downey Jr.’s win, Cillian Murphy also secured an Oscar in the Best Actor category for his role in Oppenheimer. Nolan, won the Best Director award, while the movie itself earned the top honour of Best Picture. The movie also won in other categories as well, including cinematography, original music and screenplay.
