Setting an Away Status
Set yourself as "Away" in Fortnite. Fortnite doesn't have an official way to set yourself as "Offline," but you can change your status to "Away." This will put you in the "Away" section of your friends' friends lists. The "Away" status will still apply even if you're in a game. Open your profile by selecting your profile picture in the upper-right corner of the screen. Select your profile picture in the top-left corner of the sidebar. Change your "Online Status" from Online to Away.
Changing Party Privacy
Set your party and lobby to private. If you want to play alone and don't want to get invites to lobbies, you can set your party and lobby privacy to private. This won't make you look offline, but it will keep you from having to deny party requests from friends. Open your profile by selecting your profile picture in the upper-right corner of the screen. Select your profile picture in the top-left corner of the sidebar. Set "Party Joinability" to Invite Only and make sure "Looking for Party" is turned to Off.
Creating a Second Account
Make a private second account. If you want to play Fortnite without getting bombarded with party requests, having to turn down friends, or without anyone knowing, you can always make a second account that you keep a secret. However, you won't have any of your cosmetics or achievements on this account, and you won't be able to move anything you get on this account over to your main one.
Telling Friends You Want to Play Solo
Let your friends know that you want to play Fortnite alone for now. If you are trying to appear offline to avoid friends asking you to play with them, let them know that you're in the mood to just play some solos right now. While this doesn't actually make you appear offline, it can potentially stop your friends from sending you party invites when you're trying to play Fortnite alone.
