Gather the ingredients and equipment you need for making Chinese brown sauce.

Combine 4 tbs. (59.1 ml) of soy sauce, 3 tbs. (44.4 ml)of white or brown sugar, 1 tbs. (14.8 ml) of ginger, 1 1/2 cups (354.9ml) of your choice of broth and 1 tbs. (14.8 ml)of cornstarch in a mixing bowl.

Stir the ingredients together thoroughly with a spoon.

Set the mixture aside while you prepare the remaining Chinese brown sauce ingredients.

Put about 1 tsp. (4.9 ml) of oil in a wok and begin to cook it on medium heat.
