Do you want to stream Max (formerly known as HBO Max) tv shows and movies to your Discord friends? Things You Should Know

You can only stream Max using your computer with the Discord desktop application or website.
Open Max in a web browser. Add your browser to Discord in "Settings" → "Registered Games" → "Add it!".
Navigate to a server, click the monitor icon, set your stream settings, and then click "Go Live".

Log into https://www.hbomax.com in a web browser. It's recommended to use Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. You must have an active Max subscription.

Navigate to a movie or show you want to watch. Use the search bar at the top of the page or select a category to browse the selection.

Turn off your browser's Hardware Acceleration. This can be found in your browser's system settings. For Google Chrome, click ⋮ in the top-right corner. Click Settings → System → toggle off Use hardware acceleration when available. If you don't have this option, skip this step.

Launch the Discord desktop app. Discord is available to download on Windows, Mac, and Linux. If you aren't already logged in, enter your email address and password to do so now. You can also use Discord in a desktop browser at https://discord.com/.

Click Windows Settings. This will be at the bottom-left corner, next to the Unmute and Deafen icons. A new window will open.

Click Voice & Video. You can find this underneath the Accessibility header in the left panel.

Click Registered Games. This will be underneath the Activity Settings header in the left panel.

Add your web browser as a "registered game." This tricks Discord into thinking the web browser that's playing Max is a game. Here's how: Click Add it! This will be in blue, next to Not seeing your game? Click the drop-down menu and select your browser. In some cases, your browser will be named as your active tab. Click Add Game. Discord will register your browser as a game. Exit the window by pressing Esc on your keyboard or by clicking the X in the top-right corner.

Navigate to a server. Use an existing server or create a new one for streaming movies and shows.

Click the monitor icon. You can find this above your username at the bottom-left. A pop-up window will open.

Select your stream settings. You'll be able to choose the voice channel, resolution, and framerate. If you have Discord Nitro, you'll be able to stream in higher quality.

Click Go Live. This is the blue button on the bottom of the window. Your stream will begin. You can wait for other users to join your stream.

On your web browser, click play on your video. Your video will begin streaming to your Discord server. If you're having trouble streaming, try to refresh discord. Close the program fully, and then open it again.
