You can play around with dressing camel up or keeping it casual to make this color work for you.
Choosing Color Combinations
Look at your camel clothing in natural light to see if it is warm or cool toned. Find a natural light source, like a window on a sunny day. Look at your camel-colored clothing item in the natural light and see if it skews more toward purple and blue undertones or yellow and red undertones. If it is more blue and purple, it has cool tones, while red and yellow indicate warm tones.Tip: The tone of your camel-colored clothing will change what colors and shades it looks best with. Use these tones to decide what color combinations to wear. Cool camel works best on people with cool undertones, while warm camel looks best with warm undertones.
Wear teal and turquoise to mesh with a cool camel. If your camel clothing has a purple or blue undertone, it will go well with a teal or turquoise accent. Make your camel clothing the star of the show by pairing it with teal and turquoise scarves and jewelry, or pair it with a turquoise top to blend your outfit together. Pair black jeans with a turquoise top and camel booties to create an eye-catching look. Add a camel scarf to a teal dress to make a great winter outfit.
Add a neutral and an accent color to emphasize cool camel. If you only have one piece of camel clothing, like a coat or a top, add a neutral pair of pants and a bright accent to make it stand out. Black pants, a camel-colored top, and a pink scarf go great together, especially if the camel color has blue or purple undertones. You can also pair dark wash jeans, a bright red top, and a camel overcoat for a cute outfit.
Wear red or orange with warm camel to emphasize the color. Warm camel tends to skew more towards the orange or yellow side of the color wheel. To play on this, pair your camel item with other warm colors, like red or orange. Camel pants look great with red heels and a burnt orange top. Adding a camel overcoat to a red sweater and dark wash jeans creates a classy, timeless look.
Try a monochromatic look by wearing tan with camel. If you have more than one camel-colored item of clothing or some tan pieces that are similar, you can dress head to toe in camel for a fashion-forward outfit. Make one piece of your outfit a bright color that stands out to break up the monochrome look. Wide-legged camel pants and a camel overcoat pair well with a black top and black heels. Be bold by wearing a full camel pant suit and adding a pop of color with red or teal heels.
Creating Dressy Looks
Add a camel overcoat to your outfit to dress it up. Camel overcoats automatically look chic and sophisticated. You can put them on over almost any outfit to make it stand out while staying warm. Add your camel overcoat to a dress, skirt, or a simple jeans and T-shirt to make it more stylish. Light wash jeans, a white fitted T-shirt, chunky heels, and a camel overcoat is a great outfit for a night out. A black dress and black tights pairs well with a camel overcoat.
Put on camel khakis with a neutral top for a chic outfit. A warm white shirt will stand out against camel pants. If your pants are wide-legged, stick with a fitted or cropped shirt. If they are cigarette pants, consider a flowy blouse for some contrast up top. Besides white, camel also goes well with black, dark blue, dark red, and dark gray. Camel khakis, a white blouse, and some black heels look great at the office. Wide-legged camel khakis pair well with chunky black heels and a tan top.
Wear a camel dress with bright accents to transition your look into fall. Camel is a great color to wear as the leaves start to change. Pair a camel dress with some tights and a scarf if it’s cold out and add some knee-high boots for added flair.Tip: A camel maxi-dress can wash you out if you are fair-skinned. Stick with a dress that hits above your knees. A camel dress with a pink scarf and some black boots creates a nice contrast and adds a pop of color.
Pair camel boots with wide-legged pants for some added flair. Camel boots add sophistication to any outfit. You can pair some heeled camel booties with a pair of wide-legged pants, like gauchos or culottes, for a fashion-forward look. Camel boots, wide-legged jeans, and a cropped camel shirt look great for a party.
Complement your outfit with sophisticated gold jewelry. Jewelry adds an air of sophistication to any outfit. Gold jewelry in particular pairs well with camel’s neutral color. Add a gold necklace, some gold bracelets, or some small gold earrings to elevate any outfit. A camel sweater paired with a black skirt and some gold bracelets looks great for the office or a winter party. Add large gold earrings to an outfit with a camel overcoat for some extra bling.
Building Casual Outfits
Put on a camel sweater and jeans for a cozy outfit. Sweaters are great for the fall and winter as the temperature cools down. Pair oversized sweaters with skinny jeans and fitted sweaters with boot cut or bell-bottom jeans. Use an oversized camel sweater with some dark wash jeans and sneakers for a look you can wear running errands or meeting a friend.
Throw on a camel overcoat with some sneakers for a chic look. Camel overcoats don’t have to look dressy all the time. Put on some jeans, a fitted T-shirt, and a pair of sneakers underneath your camel overcoat for a look that you can grab lunch in. Black jeans, a black T-shirt, and some black high top sneakers create a nice contrasting look underneath a camel overcoat.
Keep camel pants casual with flats. Camel pants can be kept casual if you don’t pair them with heels. Wear ballet flats to make these pants great for walking around the city or meeting up with a friend. Pair them with a bright-colored top for a statement or leave it neutral to blend in.Tip: Black flats always go with camel pants, while colored ones add a nice accent.
Add a camel scarf to any outfit to make it cohesive. Scarves are great for keeping you warm, but they can also add an element of casual sophistication to your outfit. Throw on a camel scarf with your neutral outfit for a cohesive look, or add it to a bright outfit for a nice accent. Wide scarves draw attention to your face and hair while thin ones downplay your upper body.
