Importance of Du’as for Marriage

Du’as can be important because marriage is a sacred bond in Islam. In other words, an Islamic marriage is defined as two souls joined by Allah; their bond is a holy and cherished thing. The Prophet Muhammad also stressed the benefits and importance of du’a and using them to create a bond with Allah. Because of this, reciting du’a—especially with your spouse—may help bring the two of you closer together (and closer to Allah). Du’as for marriage can also comfort you during moments of uncertainty or difficulty. And when you and your spouse have an important choice to make, you can use du’as together!

How to Use Du’as for Marriage

Incorporate du’as into your daily routine. If you want to use du’a, you can find ways to use them—either in your daily prayers or in some other part of your routine. For example, you could recite your du’a when you wake up or before bed. It may help to include your spouse and ask them to recite du’as with you. You don’t have to use du’as from the Qur’an or Hadith; you can make your own, too! For example, you could make a du’a for your spouse and recite it to seek Allah’s blessing for them or for your marriage. You might make a du’a like, “Allah, bless our marriage with love, care, closeness, and enduring peace” or “Allah, protect our marriage and guide us as we embark on this new path in life together.”
