Rajinikanth's Kabali Producer KP Chowdary Arrested In Drugs Case
Cyberabad Police seized 90 sachets of cocaine weighing a total of 82.75 grams from producer KP Chowdary.

Telugu filmmaker KP Chowdary, known for producing Rajinikanth’s Kabali, was apprehended by the Cyberabad Police on Tuesday, and a significant amount of cocaine was discovered in his possession. The initial arrest took place when the Special Operations Team intercepted him as he was leaving his residence in Kismatpur near Rajendranagar.

They seized 90 sachets of cocaine weighing a total of 82.75 grams from him. The investigation revealed that he had recently acquired 100 sachets of cocaine from Goa. It is suspected that he might have consumed a portion of it himself and also sold some sachets.

KP Chowdary was taken into custody by the police in the act of delivering drugs to his clients. His arrest came as a result of an ongoing investigation by the Cyberabad Police, where they had previously seized 300 grams of cocaine a month ago. This earlier case ultimately led to Chowdary’s arrest. Based on initial reports, it was discovered that he had spent a significant amount of time in Goa and a considerable quantity of cocaine was confiscated from him by the police.

The Telugu film industry has also faced previous associations with drug-related incidents. It was a significant event in the Telugu states when several individuals including Puri Jagannadh, Charmmee Kaur, Navdeep, Ravi Teja, Subbaraju and Tanish, were summoned for questioning in a drug case. However, all of them were given a clean chit.

On July 2, 2017, a narcotics operation was disrupted by customs officials, leading to the arrest of Calvin Mascarenhas, a musician, along with two accomplices. Subsequently, drugs valued at Rs 30 lakh were confiscated from their possession.

Now, with the recent arrest of producer KP Chowdary, the situation has reignited discussions around this issue. Additionally, during the previous drug case, even actress Rakul Preet Singh’s manager was called in for questioning.

In 2020, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) summoned the actress regarding the drug investigation related to the death of Sushant Singh Rajput. This action was taken because of her communication with Rhea Chakraborty. Rakul acknowledged having conversations with Rhea and stated that the drugs were intended for Rhea while denying any personal use of drugs in her life.
