Information Technology and Communication (IT&C) minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah on Thursday expressed his happiness over the Mee Seva bagging the prestigious SKOCH Award for the ‘Best project of national significance’.
Speaking to mediapersons on Thursday, Ponnala said that it is a matter of great pride that the state government’s prestigious programme has been recognized as an important project of national significance and announced that the government is planning to introduce 100 Mee Seva services by December. “We have been offering 32 services as of now and are planning to introduce 100 services by December. Our Mee Seva centres are handling 50,000 transactions every day on an average, where they are equipped to handle one lakh transactions a day,” he said.
He feels that since its introduction in November 2011 at Tirupati, Mee Seva, or ‘At Your Service’ programme is the first of it’s kind service in the country which aims at transparency and speedy service. In the past 10 months, over 40 lakh transactions were completed through 6000 Mee Seva Service counters across the state, he said.
The SKOCH award was received by IT&C principal secretary Sanjay Jaju from the Union minister for minorities, law and justice Salman Khursheed at New Delhi on Tuesday. The Mee Sewa was selected from among the 100 entries by an expert panel headed by Nandan Nilekani.
