14 students issued Tourist Guide Certificate

KOCHI: The Kochi Corporation gave away Tourist Guide Certificates to 14 students on Tuesday under the Kerala State Urban Sustainable Development Programme to promote skill development.This makes the Kochi Corporation the first local self government in the state to give away licenses to tourist guides. With the programme the corporation aims to tap the tremendous job opportunity in the field of tourism, Kochi Corporation Mayor Tony Chammani said.Another 85 students from BPL families received certificates in various other courses under a programme. These courses were selected after analysing the industry for the fields which had the maximum job opportunity, the mayor said. The training for tourist guides was given by KITTS, Tripunithura.
