BHUBANESWAR: Two more Rabindra Mandaps would be constructed by the State Government, one each in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, with Central assistance of ` 15 crore. On the occasion of the inauguration of the five-day Natya Utsav, Culture Minister Prafulla Samal said these two auditoriums would be in addition to the existing one in Bhubaneswar. Sources said the Central Government took the decision to finance the proposed auditoriums in view of the commemoration of Tagore’s 150th birth anniversary  which will see various programmes across the country.  There are also plans to construct new auditoriums in every district with Central assistance. Earlier, the State Government had approached the Centre to set up a Rabindra Museum at Pandua village in Jagatsinghpur district where Tagore visited frequently. The Centre has in principle agreed to the proposal and promised to provide ` 1 crore.  The work will be taken up after collecting all the Tagore’s memorabilia in the village and the district, Samal said. The Minister further said while the new auditoriums at Cuttack and Bhubaneswar will have added facilities to bolster cultural activities in the two areas, the existing Rabindra mandap in Bhubaneswar will get a facelift. Besides, Samal said yesteryear’s popular theatres like Annapurna and Ekamra will be also revived as a part of the State Government’s initiative to develop the theatre arena.
