2002 hit-and-run case: Salman yet to get court summons
A Mumbai court had on December 3 issued summons to Salman Khan and a police officer to appear before it on December 27.

Mumbai: As much as 26 days after actor Salman Khan was issued summons by a Bandra court in connection with the 2002 hit-and-run case, the police have still not been able to serve them to the actor. The summons, issued by the court, requires Salman to be in court on December 17.

Notably, some activists have alleged that the Mumbai police was helping the actor get away. The actor had rammed into a bakery in suburban Bandra, killing one and injuring four others sleeping on a pavement on September 28, 2002.

A Mumbai court had on December 3 issued summons to Salman Khan and a police officer to appear before it on December 27 to answer charges of giving false information and producing wrong witnesses as a result of which the trial has been delayed for so long.

The complaint had alleged that on the basis of false information given by the police, a wrong set of doctors were examined in court during the trial. As these doctors were not concerned with the case, they were either discharged or were not examined, and as a result, the trial was delayed.
