Three children, who were employed at the canteens of a group of self-financing engineering institutions were rescued by an official team, which conducted surprise raids following a tip-off, on Tuesday.
According to an official, the team rescued three children - Ganesh (12), Santha Rao (13), both hailing from Andra Pradesh, and Chandran (14) of Tiruchengode - who were employed at the canteens on the premises of the institutions located on Tiruchengode-Erode Road.
He said all the three children were working at the canteens for over a year and were rescued following a tip-off. The team rescued three more children from bakeries near the institutions.
