Ruling Congress government on Tuesday told Rajasthan Legislative Assembly that over 31,000 vacant posts of teachers in different grades will soon be filled up to overcome the problem of faculty shortages in schools.

"20,000 posts of teachers in IIIrd grade, 9,000 teachers in IInd grade and 2,800 lecturers will be filled up soon and RPSC has been asked to complete the task," education minister B K Sharma told the House. The district collectors and district education officers have also been directed to adjust the faculty strength by shifting excess teachers to schools where vacancies were existing, the minister said.

During Zero Hour, on the issue of damaged roads in Jaipur due to heavy rains, Urban Development Minister Shanti Dhariwal told the House that a budget of Rs 350 cr was earmarked to repair of damaged roads, and on new carpeting for Jaipur alone.

During Question Hour, Revenue Minister Hemaram Choudhary assured the House that new districts would be constituted after receiving report from a high-level committee by October 31.

Replying to a question of a BJP MLA Nirmal Kumawat, the minister said there were demands to constitute 42 new districts in the state, and to settle the issue the high-level committee was set up on May 28, 2012 but its tenure was extended till October 31 2013.
