A 40-year-old man was seriously injured in a tiger attack in north Kheri forest division in Lakhimpur, a forest department official said on Saturday. The incident took place on Friday evening when Ramesh along with his fellow villagers was grazing his cattle near Chanpura forests under south Nighasan range, Divisional Forest Officer KK Pandey said.
The tiger which was hiding in the forests got alerted by their presence in the jungle and attacked the group. While others escaped, Ramesh sustained serious injuries on his head. He was rushed to the district hospital, he added.
Meanwhile, the forest department has warned the people not to enter forests which are full of wild animals. Few days back a tigress in Bhira range under south Kheri had unleashed its terror killing one and injuring another. After days-long operation the officers tranquilised it on March 10 and released it in Dudhwa.
