500 fake notes seized

CHENNAI: The Currency Investigation Wing (CCIW) of Crime Branch-CID arrested two passengers and seized Rs 3 lakh in fake notes at the Central railway station on Wednesday.Acting on a tip off, a CCIW team intercepted a duo who arrived by Kolkata-Chennai Coramandel Express at 5.40 pm. Probe showed that they were Purushottam Soni (54) of Seven Wells and R Ayal Raj (64) of  Thirumangalam, Madurai. As many as 100 notes in Rs 1,000 denomination and 400 notes in Rs 500 denomination were seized from them. They said they got the notes from one Lal Mohammed of West Bengal.
