61st National Awards: 'Ship of Theseus' wins best feature film, Best Actor for Rajkummar Rao, Best Director for Hansal Mehta for 'Shahid'
Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's film 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' won Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.

Director Anand Gandhi's powerful film about a photographer, a Jain monk and a young stock broker told through different segments won Best Feature Film at the 61st National Film Awards for 2013. 'Ship of Theseus', depicting issues of intuitive brilliance, metaphysical belief and intricate morality in a world full of contradictions, also won Aida El Kashef a Best supporting actress award shared with Amruta Subhash for Marathi film 'Astu'.

Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's film 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' won Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. Produced by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures and Romp Pictures and starring Farhan Akhtar, the biopic tells the story of one of India's greatest sportsman Milkha Singh.

Hansal Mehta won best director for his remarkable film 'Shahid' that traces the true story of a slain human right activist and a lawyer Shahid Azmi in the backdrop of communal violence unleashed in Mumbai. Rajkummar Rao also won Best Actor for 'Shahid' while the Best Actress award went to 'Liar's Dice' actress Geetanjali Thapa.

The brilliant Saurabh Shukla who plays a disgruntled and indomitable judge who discovers his authority and conscience in the process of conducting a high profile case in the Hindi film 'Jolly LLB' won Best Supporting Actor.

Bollywood film 'Jolly LLB' was named the best Hindi film, while director Nishtha Jain's 'Gulabi Gang' was adjudged the best film on social issues for the 61st National Film Awards. 'Gulabi Gang' is recognised for its powerful depiction of a crusader taking viewers deeper into the continuing struggles of the rural Indian women.

Suraj Venjaramoodu shared the best actor award with Rao for 'Perariyathavar', the Malayalam film portraying a man on the lower margins of the society.

The Indira Gandhi award for best debut film of a director went to the Marathi film ' Fandry' directed by Nagraj Manjule.

Rupankar won Best Playback singer (Male) for the song 'E Tumi Kemon Tumi' for the Bengali featiure film 'Jaatishwar', that traces the life and times of one of colonial Bengal's greatest poet-musicians known as 'Antony Firingi'. The film went home with four awards including Best Costume, Make-up artist and music direction.

Bela Shende won Best Female Playback for the song 'Khura Khura' in the Marathi film 'Tuhya Dharma Koncha'. Ashim Ahluwalia, Tabsheer Zutshi and Parichit Paralkar won Best Production Design for 'Madras Cafe'. Location sound recordist Nihar Ranjan Samal was also awarded for a "superlative professional job, in picking up minute nuances, covering indoor as well as outdoor locations" for 'Madras Cafe'.
