67-yr-old woman gives birth to twins

New Delhi: It’s no little feat, this. A 67-year-old Spanish woman has become the oldest known woman to give birth after the Barcelona Hospital de Sant Pau declared she had given birth to twins by Caesarean section.

The mother and twins are reported to be doing well health-wise, a hospital spokeswoman said.

This is the first time the woman has given birth. Her children were still in an incubator following their birth late Friday, reported Barcelona media outlet Catalunya Informacio.

The woman became pregnant after she received in-vitro fertilisation treatment in South America.

Previously, Adriana Iliescu from Romania held the record for being the oldest woman to give birth at 66. A twin died hours after birth.
