A tsunami of joy for some
When the ocean went mad on December 26 2004, bringing death to thousands, Krishan and Amrithana came into the world.

Nagapattinam: The two bundles of joy, one a girl who loves mobiles and the other a boy who loves water, have a remarkable thing in common.

When the ocean went mad on December 26 2004, bringing death to thousands, they bounded into life, bringing joy to their families.

Krishna, whose love for water is but natural and the attachment natal, will do anything to play in it and if anyone tries to take him out he starts crying.

"I was very happy. It was like the God himself had come to our house. That's why we kept his name Krishna, the preservor," says his mother Kumari.

Amrithana is fondly called tsunami at home and just a few days before she celebrates her first birthday on Decemeber 26, the family can't help but marvel at her survival.

Especially since her mother had had a premonition of the tsunami a few hours before Amrithana cried out her entry into the world.

"She was sweating when she told me that she had a dream. The entire village was drowning in blood, my son had died recently, and she was having visions of him taking the child away with him," says Amrithana's grandmother Muthulakshmi.

Although their birth has become synonymous with that deadly tsunami but their lives will always symbolise the power of human life.

During the course of this story both children were taken to the sea shore where their families met each other for the first time and introduced the young ones to their shared fate.

These children are too young to understand why their birth date is so special. But when they grow up, they will realize that because of them, atleast two families in Nagapattinam will celebrate December 26 instead of consigning it forever to the book of bad memories.
