Florence: Palazzo Spini Feroni, Salvatore Ferragamo’s historic Florentine
headquarters, will host a special guest from India this month. The internationally acclaimed Indian star Abhishek Bachchan will be visiting the Florentine label as part of the ‘Shoes for a Star’ project, becoming the first Indian actor to receive the made-to-order Tramezza shoes from Ferragamo. GQ India will report on the special occasion.
It is an exceptional initiative in which the much admired actor will enjoy Salvatore Ferragamo’s warm hospitality at the grandest private medieval palace in the city. During his stay at the centrally-located Hotel Lungarno, which is owned by the Salvatore Ferragamo Group, Abhishek Bachchan has been invited to Palazzo Spini Feroni for a welcome lunch with the Ferragamo family, followed by a personalised tour of the Salvatore Ferragamo Museum.
In the course of his visit, Abhishek Bachchan will experience the rich heritage of Ferragamo and its !ne shoe-making as he interacts with expert shoemakers who will measure his feet for wooden lasts, an essential part of the Ferragamo shoemaking process. He will also meet with Ferragamo’s renowned shoe designers who will create a customised shoe in line with Abhishek’s distinct tastes and requests.
The made-to-order Tramezza is a personalised, handmade men’s shoe featuring a stitched welting construction, the ultimate shoe crafting technique. The customer selects the materials, colours and styles in an expression of his individual style at the height of luxury.
Abhishek Bachchan is the son of Indian industry’s legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan. He is married to the world-renowned actress and former Miss World, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The influential couple has also appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show and have made numerous appearances at the Cannes Film Festival, creating a flutter in the world of Red Carpet Fashion.
In his career spanning over a decade, Abhishek has received critical acclaim for his performances and contribution to the Indian film industry. Abhishek will also be among the elite front-row guests to preview the Salvatore Ferragamo
Autumn Winter 2011 Men’s collection during Milan Fashion Week on Sunday 16th January.
Creative Designer Massimiliano Giornetti will meet Abhishek backstage and the two will discuss fashion trends and seasonal highlights hot off the runway.
This is yet another example of the many ways in which the Italian luxury brand continues to reaf!rm its deep interest in and close relationship with the film world.
