New Delhi: Pakistan is unlikely to stay silent after the security establishment in Jammu and Kashmir killed Lashkar-e-Toiba's top leader Abu Qasim in Kulgam on Thursday morning. Sources said Pakistan's retaliation is expected as Qasim was the LeT's poster boy for recruitment in the valley.

The mastermind behind Udhampur BSF convoy attack was killed by security forces in an ambush in Khandipura village of Kulgam district.

Qasim had killed a police officer early this month in Bandipora district and managed to escape when he was being chased. The Jammu and Kashmir police had announced a bounty on Qasim's head.

In August, India's security forces with the help of a local village defence committee, caught a young terrorist alive after a brief gunbattle in Udhampur. One of his accomplices had already been killed by the security forces earlier.

This came after terrorists ambushed a BSF convoy, killing at least two personnel and injuring eight others. The captured terrorist later revealed the operational details and Pakistan's hand in the terror attack.

Intelligence sources had said Usman and his group were motivated by Pakistan's Army. The group was helped by Pakistani state and non-state actors. They were also provided with a large quantity of ammunition, sophisticated weapons and Global Positioning Systems devices by the Pakistani Army and ISI.
