Mumbai: Celebrated Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi is in town to receive the Asian Film Culture Award at the ongoing Third Eye Film Festival.
The director's films have received accolades all over the world and his 1998 film Children of Heaven was nominated at the Oscars in the Best Foreign Film category. So what does the filmmaker feel about Indian movies?
"Satyajit Ray's art films are similar to Iranian films," Majidi said.
Baduk, Father, Baran, Colors of Paradise, almost all of Majidi's films are about human values but the filmmaker has his favourite from his own works.
"Children of Heaven is closer to my heart because it depicts my life," Majidi said.
The director believes that both India and Iran have similar cultural sensibilities and maybe that is why he has plans to shoot in Kashmir soon.
