Mumbai: Days after uproar over police raid at hotels in Mumbai, Additional Commissioner of Police Fateh Singh Patil has been transferred. Consenting couples were allegedly dragged out of their hotel rooms last week and were subjected to humiliation and harassment in the hands of the police.

However, sources say that the transfer has nothing to do with the raid and cited the transfer as merely a routine exercise for administrative reasons.

Police though claimed that raids were held at the hotels of Aksa Beach following complaints by locals regarding acts of public indecency. The incident had led to huge public outcry and evoked criticism from many sections of the society .

Mumbai Police chief Rakesh Maria had also ordered an inquiry into the incident. The ACP was asked to prepare a report on the raids and his transfer orders were issued on Thursday evening.

Patil was transferred to the Mumbai Police Commissionerate from Navi Mumbai in the third week of May 2015.
