HYDERABAD: Actress Tara Chowdary, who was arrested on charges of forcing a woman into flesh trade, reportedly told police during her custody that a senior Congress leader from Guntur offered Rs 50 lakh to her to defame another Congress leader, who is his rival, from the same district. Tara, however, refused the offer.This was revealed by some audio tapes seized by the police during the searches in her residence. The conversation reportedly had the Congress leader offering Rs 50 lakh to Tara to defame the other. Tara also told police that the Congress leader threatened her sending his security staff to her home.Tara reportedly confessed the offence before police during her custody. She reportedly confessed that she came to the city a few years ago to get chance to act in Tollywood and played various characters in three films. With an intention to get easy money, she entered into flesh trade.Meanwhile, Tara was on Thursday granted bail in two cases against her. She, however, was yet to get bail in the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act (PITA) case registered against her based on a complaint filed by a victim.The two cases for which she was granted bail include attacking an advocate and obstructing a constable from discharging duties at Banjara Hills police station.The court heard arguments related to the PITA case filed against Tara and reserved the orders for Friday.
