CHENNAI: As part of the 5,135th birth anniversary celebrations of the legendary ruler, Maharaja Agrasen,(the founder of the Agarwal community), members of the Agarwal Sabha distributed awards to meritorious students.Thirty five students were awarded certificates and mementos for scoring high percentage marks in their board exams.Twenty one students belonging to Class 10 and 14 students belonging to Class 12 were honoured at the ceremony.Senior members of the Agarwal Sabha, including Kesar Dev Kindoi, Roopchand Agarwal, Praladrai Sarvogi and Usha Agarwal were also felicitated at the event.In addition, two members, namely Ashok Kedia and Gaurav Singhal were felicitated for their special contributions to the activities of the Sabha.The event was also marked by festive celebrations with the participation of nearly 60 students in cultural activities at the end of the ceremony. The event was presided over by the president of the Agarwal Sabha, Indarraj Bhansal and the Chief Guest, Vijay Garg, Deputy GM, State Bank of India. The Agarwal Sabha that was set up in 1954 has been involved in social initiatives in the field of education, including provision of school fees to underprivileged students. The Annapoorna Yojana conceptualised by the Sabha is also involved in distribution of 50kg food grains per month to economically backward households. Furthermore, the Sabha also conducts free yoga classes on the premises of SRKK Bhavan.The Agarwal organisations’ branches are distributed in different parts of the world, including USA, UK, Canada, Delhi, Pune, Chattisgarh, Rai Bareilly, Pune, Raipur and Nagpur.
