BANGALORE: While the state government is contemplating to upgrade government hospitals on the lines of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, a team of doctors from the prestigious hospital is likely to visit city-based Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research to study its model and adopt it back there. In a recent meeting Minister for Medical Education Minister S A Ramadas announced that all the five hospitals under Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute (BMCRI) will be upgraded on par with AIIMS. Even the government has started working on this with with BBMP, PWD and BWSSB. But what is it that makes Jayadeva Hospital a role model for AIIMS?“It is the incentive scheme for good performing staff, hospital administration and zero attrition rate which has been appreciated by doctors. This team of three would visit the institute this week and later adopt a similar system back in AIIMS to to upgrade it,” said Dr C N Manjunath, director, Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research. “Despite being a government hospital, the functioning and administration is being highly appreciated by doctors of various institutes. Many doctors from other countries besides those working in various hospitals across the country are keen on joining our institute which has now led to a reverse brain drain-like situation,” he added.
