Alagiri must oppose death penalty: HMK

KUMBAKONAM:Union minister M K Alagiri should raise the issue of the death sentence handed down to the three convicts in the the Rajiv assassination case in the Cabinet meeting and oppose the decision to execute the capital punishment, said Hindu Makkal Katchi leader Arjun Sampath.Addressing the media here, he said when a DMK minister in the Union Cabinet opposed the execution of the death sentence awarded to Perarivalan, Santhan and Murugan, it could be stopped, he said.“So, the issue of stopping the death sentence is in the hands of DMK leader Karunanidhi and all those who want to save the three men, should lay a siege to Karunanidhi’s house,” Arjun Sampath suggested.He alleged that about 1,400 Hindu temples had been demolished in Tamil areas of Sri Lanka and ancient symbols of Hinduism had been destroyed.
