ERODE: Youth Congress (YC) State president M Yuvaraja said it is the duty of the State government to allay the fears of people on Koodankulam Nuclear Power Plant (KKNPP) as the electricity produced here would help TN to overcome the present power shortage.Speaking at a function after inaugurating the GK Moopanar Memorial Library at the party office here on Saturday, he said even though the expert committee, deputed by the Centre, had responded to various doubts of the movement against the plant on Friday, it (the movement) continues opposing the plant. This raised doubts that some alien forces were inciting the stir.The YC, on its part, started distributing handbills to people there to clarify their doubts. However, the State should also take responsibility to allay their fears and help early commencement of power production there.Urging the CM to rollback bus fare and milk price hike, he said that if the prices were hiked marginally in yesteryears, people could not have faced heavy burden now. If the State refused to consider their plea, the YC will stage a statewide stir, he said.
