Chennai: Tamil director P Kinslin says Anjali acts naturally in front of the camera and says she has the ability to slip into her character with ease and precision.
He has teamed up with Anjali in his forthcoming Tamil crime-thriller 'Vathikuchi'.
"She (Anjali) is one of the few actresses who can effortlessly play her character on screen. The confidence with which she shoulders her character proves her ability to be a natural actress," Kinslin told IANS.
The actress' character has different shades in the movie.
"She plays a rural girl Meena who comes to Chennai in search of a career. In Chennai, she calls herself Leena and begins to imitate the urban lifestyle. While as the rural character she is timid and docile, as Leena she is exactly the opposite," said the director.
Known for giving out hits like 'Engaeyum Eppothum', 'Kalakalappu' and 'Seethamma Vaakitlo Sirimalle Chettu', Anjali is paired with newcomer Dhileban in the film.
"Unlike other accomplished actresses, Anjali doesn't mind playing lead opposite a newcomer. It's very uncommon that a leading actress would agree to be cast with a debutant but Anjali has no such issue. Instead of worrying about her co-star, she is more concerned about her role," Kinslin said.
Jointly produced by Murugadoss Productions and Fox Star Studios, the film's cast features Saranya Ponvannan, Sampath Raj, Jayaprakash, Raja and Rajshree.
Mostly shot in and around Chennai, 'Vathikuchi' was completed in 85 days. It is coming out March 15.
