TIRUNELVELI: Anti-Koodankulam Nuclear Power Project (KKNPP) protestors have temporarily suspended their agitation to facilitate the conduct of the local body elections in the area. But, they plan to resume the protest on Tuesday itself at Idinthakarai, protest committee leaders said on Sunday.The leaders on Sunday held a meeting at Koodankulam with village and community heads and representatives of various political parties and decided to suspend the agitation temporarily to facilitate the elections on Monday.Protest committee leader SP Udayakumar told Express that representatives from political parties, including Naam Thamizhar, Manitha Neya Makkal Katchi, the MDMK and DMDK, participated in the meeting.“We decided to suspend the protest temporarily to facilitate local body elections on Monday. But we would again continue the fast at Idinthakarai on Tuesday. It would be a relay fast. Protestors from various villages would...participate in the relay fast... If work resumes at KKNPP, protestors would lay a siege in front of the plant,” he said.Another member M Pushparayan said, “We have asked the people to vote for those candidates who support the...protest. Protests would be held across Tamil Nadu and Kerala in the coming days,” he said.
