Chirang: A near intact skeleton of what could be of a dinosaurus has been found in Assam's Chirang district, a senior forest official said. The six feet high skeleton was originally found on the bank of the Kuklung river by villagers of Nakrapatiguri when they went on a pilgrimage to a temple there on February 24, Divisional Forest Officer Brahmananda Patiri said.
One of the villagers carted the skeleton home and after local journalists learnt of it, they informed forest officials who seized it, Patiri said. The forest department informed the Wildlife Trust of India, Gauhati University's Zoology Department, the Veterinary College in Guwahati and other animal experts for verification, Patiri said.
The area where the skeleton was found is adjacent to the world-famous Manas Wildlife Sanctuary.
