Devotees believe that if they collect these mutyala talambralus after marriage, they will get the blessings of Lord Rama.

The Sri Rama Navami Thirukalyana Brahmotsavam festival commenced on April 9 at Sree Seetha Ramachandra Swamy Vari Devasthanam – Bhadrachalam, Andhra Pradesh, a popular shrine. It is similar to the Chaitra Navratri festival, which will end on April 17. The Sri Rama Navami Thirukalyana Brahmotsavam festival’s final ritual will conclude on April 17. According to Local 18 Telugu, the Bhadrachalam administration has employed women from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to prepare mutyala talambralu (a mixture of sacred rice with pearls, saffron, and turmeric). These employees prepare 10-15 thousand packets of pearls regularly and also sing hymns of Lord Shri Rama. Devotees believe that if they collect these mutyala talambralus after marriage, they will get the blessings of Lord Rama. Rama devotees from across the country show interest in collecting these mutyala talambralus. The women preparing the mutyala talambralu revealed a lot of interesting things about this mixture that is revered by the devotees with the utmost respect.

The women talked about the popular beliefs which say that if the believers sprinkle mutyala talambralu on the forehead of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita they will be blessed with long life and happiness. Due to these beliefs, there is a massive crowd to attend the Sri Rama Navami Thirukalyana Brahmotsavam festival and procure the mutyala talambralu. To cope with these growing crowds, the temple authorities have taken some immediate steps like placing this mixture at a place where the people can easily take it without any hassle. As per reports, it is known that more than 3 lakh mutyala talambralu mixtures are being prepared this year. Women are participating in huge numbers to pack the mixtures and are doing that with great devotion.

The tradition of offering these gifts by the state was started during the Qutb Shahi period and this was continued by Asaf Jahis, as told by historian Mohammad Safiullah. This heritage of passing down gifts has been continued by governments after Independence too. As per Saifullah, the temple at Bhadrachalam was built by Kancharla Gopanna, who was the nephew of Akkanna and Madanna.
